Anticipated 2026-2027 Classroom instruction for High School English with possible coaching and extra curricular activites.
At Gardner South Wilmington High School, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and academically rigorus environment where students are challenged to think critically and express themselves authentically. We believe that literature and language are powerful tools for empathy and understanding. We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and innovative High School English Teacher to join our dedicated faculty for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Duties:

Curriculum & Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional lessons that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.

Classroom Management: Establish a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that encourages open discussion and intellectual curiosity.

Assessment & Feedback: Grade essays, projects, and exams constructively, providing timely and actionable feedback to foster student growth.

Student Support: Identify and support students who may be struggling academically or socially, collaborating with guidance counselors and parents when necessary.

Professional Collaboration: Participate actively in department meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide committees.

Community Engagement: Maintain open, professional communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education (Dual Credit Ceritification is a bonus).

Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification for Secondary Education (English/Language Arts, Grades 9-12).

Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; deep knowledge of diverse literary genres and writing pedagogy.
Salary/Benefits
Based on collective bargaining agreement year 1 step 1 $43,003. Experience negotiable.
Board paid TRS.
