Duties
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under general direction, provide full network support to the technology department and district staff. Utilize computing devices and applications on a wide area network (WAN) or large local area network (LAN) to install, test, maintain and resolve problems with network hardware and software; adapt existing networking hardware and software to accommodate the needs of the district, maintain infrastructure, and perform related duties as required.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of local area networks and wide area networks
- Knowledge of operating systems on computing devices and servers
- Knowledge of research techniques
- Knowledge of computer application design
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software
- Knowledge of proper data security/backup procedures
- Knowledge of wireless LANs and WANs based on IEEE standards
- Ability to install computer hardware and software
- Ability to install and optimize software and operating systems for network utilization
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot computing device problems
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot networking problems
- Ability to terminate data cabling according to IEEE standards
- Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below but not limited to
- Maintains confidentiality of all student information
- Performs a full range of network administration functions in order to manage networked systems and attain maximum utilization and efficiency
- Performs troubleshooting and fault isolation on networking devices, servers, or related system components in order to maintain system availability
- Implements system security measures such as backups, access control, system accounting, and disaster recovery in order to maintain system integrity and availability
- Researches, recommends, installs, and tests hardware, software, and network configuration for computing devices and/or servers in order to provide reliable information systems which meet district needs
- Installs and configures internal hardware components such as memory, disk, and tape drives in multi-user, computing devices in order to maintain or enhance system operation and capabilities
- Upgrade and maintain the district’s equipment inventory
- Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of technology policies and procedures in collaboration with district administration
- Provides support for the district's networking needs
- Run, terminate, and test cables (CAT6, rapid run, fiber, coaxial)
- Chromebook management and repair
- Assist with district’s technology recycling
- Communicates issues and change logs
- Keeps abreast and knowledgeable of updates for district equipment, networking hardware maintenance and trends in computer networking and system operation
- Test and evaluate software and hardware products in order to determine applicability and value to district operations
- Complete hardware orders once approved by administration and in cost-effective district purchasing of technology related items
- Complete network inventory database and summer maintenance for all systems
- Assist with student state testing
- Assist with Admin Management Tools
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Information Technology or a directly related field or extensive previous work experience. Ability to pass a fingerprint criminal background check.
Salary/Benefits
$60,000 - $80,000 and benefits
