Duties
Function:
The Middle School Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of administrative assistant duties.
Reports to: Principal and Assistant Principal
Coordinates or Works with:
- General Public
- Parents and Students
- Board of Education
- Vendors
- Various school district personnel
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Types and Distributes student and faculty bulletins and various memos
- Lists absent students and telephones parents
- Obtains homework assignments for absent students
- Maintains school files/cum folders; requests and sends records
- Assists with computer scheduling of students
- administers first aid to students
- Types and mails suspension letters, via certified mail (English and Spanish)
- Assigns and maintains key inventory
- Assigns lockers to students
- Maintains free/reduced lunch forms
- Coordinates summer school registration
- Processes attendance reports (daily & monthly)
- Prepares various anual and quarterly reports
- Schedule and maintains records for Special Education meetings
- Coordinates "Student of the Month" ceremony
- Records grades and attendance in student cum folders; prepares honor roll
- Process/makes student ID badges
- Interprets for Administrators(s) and Staff when the Parent Coordinator is not available, before and after school
- Performs a variety of secretarial duties, including typing, filing, receiving/screening phone calls, photocopying, assisting student/parents at counter and other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications
Education: High school with an emphasis on business courses
Experience: One to three years of related or similar experience
Special Skills:
Must be able to work with constant interruptions
Should have a great deal of patience and enjoy children
Must be able to interact with parents concerning various issues
Bilingual - Spanish preferred
Salary/Benefits
Class II - Ten-Month Position (200 days)
Salary: $29,945 /annually, 10-month position (200 days)
