Duties
The Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment develops, implements, and coordinates a comprehensive curriculum, instructional, and assessment program aimed at improving educational achievement for all students. This position provides leadership in curriculum alignment, professional learning, and data-driven decision-making while ensuring consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across all schools.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the curricular and instructional program of the district.
- In collaboration with the district leadership team, lead, implement, and monitor the district-wide School Improvement Process (SIP) to ensure alignment with district goals and measurable student outcomes.
- Develop and maintain a system-wide curriculum study and continuous improvement plan consistent with the district's vision, goals, and policies.
- Coordinate the development of new and revised curricula and organize the work of curriculum committees to ensure alignment with district objectives.
- Collaborate with administration and teaching staff to ensure horizontal and vertical alignment of curriculum and instruction (K-12), eliminating gaps and redundancies across grade levels and buildings.
- Supervise and coordinate the district assessment program and MTSS systems, including analysis of student performance data (MAP, IAR, ACT, etc.) and implementation of data-informed instructional practices and student support structures.
- Design, coordinate, and evaluate professional learning and in-service activities that are practical, content-specific, and aligned to district priorities and School Improvement Plans, with clear expectations for implementation and follow-up.
- Coordinate and support teacher induction and mentoring programs.
- Support principals and staff in strengthening instructional practices through data analysis, instructional coaching systems, and alignment of professional practice to district priorities.
- Guide curricular decisions, including course offerings, course content, and the selection of instructional materials, textbooks, and assessments.
- Encourage and support innovative and research-based instructional practices that improve student learning.
- Interpret curriculum, instructional programs, and proposed changes to the Board of Education, administration, staff, and community.
- Communicate district instructional needs and recommendations to the Superintendent.
- Coordinate district-wide efforts related to instructional technology in collaboration with the technology department to ensure effective integration into teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with student services and special programs to ensure curriculum access and instructional supports for diverse learners.
- Lead the identification, development, and coordination of grant opportunities aligned to district curriculum, instruction, and assessment priorities, including grant writing, application submission, compliance monitoring, and evaluation of program impact on student learning.
- Prepare and submit required state reports, including those within the Illinois Web Application Security (IWAS) system.
- Attend Board meetings and prepare reports as requested by the Superintendent.
- Stay current with best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment, while fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and positive staff morale across the district.
- Perform all other duties necessary to the office and as assigned by the Superintendent or Board of Education.

Anticipated salary range: $75,000 to $85,000
