Director of Multilingual Services

Duties

  1. Supervise and evaluate the existing EL/Bilingual/Dual programs, e.g. facilities, curriculum, learning activities, materials, supplies, teachers and teacher instruction.
  2. Collaboratively establish long-term plans and follow a continuous improvement model for EL/Bilingual/Dual education services in District 100.
  3. Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and support of EL/Bilingual/Dual Language programming, including approval of instructional materials in collaboration with district administration.
  4. Plan for and monitor preservice and in-service training for teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators.  
  5. Track student enrollment/caseloads on a regular basis.  Monitor programming and service needs for EL students. 
  6. Make recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer and Chief of Human Resources regarding EL/Bilingual/Dual staffing needs. 
  7. Assist the Chief Financial Officer in planning and administering the bilingual education budget.
  8. Develop procedures to maintain complete records for all children evaluated and/or receiving EL services.
  9. Keep current with literature, new research findings and improved techniques in EL/Bilingual/Dual education.
  10. Assist in the recruitment, selection and recommendation of employment for EL/Bilingual/Dual education personnel.
  11. Support the evaluation process of EL/Bilingual/Dual staff in cooperation with the building administration.
  12. Process and monitor state- and local-language testing (ACCESS).  Support other assessments required of EL students (accommodations).
  13. Research, develop, and oversee systems for translation and interpretation services to ensure meaningful access for multilingual families.
  14. Perform other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree

PEL with valid Illinois General Administrative endorsement

Bilingual (Spanish/English) speaking preferred

Prior experience in an EL/Bilingual administrative position

Provide effective leadership for EL/Bilingual/Dual Education staff

Ability to collaborate with others in a team to problem-solve and work through tasks

Ability to perform duties under stress and adhere to strict deadlines in order to maintain compliance with special education timelines and special education services for students

Ability to work with minimal supervision and to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures

Salary/Benefits

$110,000.00/year; commensurate with experience
