Position Summary
Brookfield LaGrange District 95 is seeking a collaborative and student-centered Reading Specialist / Reading Team Member to support literacy instruction in grades K-5. The ideal candidate is passionate about reading, grounded in foundational literacy instruction, and committed to working flexibly with students and teachers to improve outcomes. Experience modeling lessons, comfort level with presenting, and supporting teachers and students are important.
Responsibilities
- Provide targeted small-group literacy instruction, primarily in grades K–5
- Analyze student assessment data to identify needs and guide instruction
- Collaborate with classroom teachers through coaching, modeling, and co-teaching
- Support the implementation of district literacy resources and interventions
- Participate in MTSS problem-solving and data review processes
- Communicate effectively with teachers, families, and colleagues
- Adjust service delivery models as needed to best support students

Qualifications
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Masters in Reading or Reading Specialist Endorsement
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, preferably in K–3
- Previous reading specialist or literacy intervention experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of foundational literacy skills and data-driven instruction
- Familiarity with structured literacy approaches (UFLI a plus; training provided)
- Strong understanding of foundational literacy skills (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, decoding)
- Experience analyzing student data to guide instruction and intervention
