Elementary Special Education

Duties

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Provide direct instruction and support aligned with student goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and service providers
  • Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
  • Support students in the least restrictive environment (LRE)
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA and ISBE requirements. 
  • Provide direct instruction in academic and functional skill areas using evidence-based practices. 
  • Differentiate instruction and accommodations to meet individual student needs in inclusive and specialized settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in the least restrictive environment (LRE).
  • Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and eligibility determinations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and services.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
  • Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) and behavior plans as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with related service providers (speech, OT, PT, social work, etc.).
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school initiatives.
  • Uphold school policies, procedures, and professional ethics.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS I) endorsement
  • Knowledge of special education laws and best practices
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills
  • Elementary experience preferred

Salary/Benefits

Annual Salary: Starting at $41,200 per the Mount Olive Education Association Contract (2024-2027).

Mt. Olive Elementary is seeking a compassionate and skilled Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and collaborate with staff and families to ensure student success in compliance with IDEA and ISBE requirements.
