School Social Worker

Acts as a liaison between the home and school by assisting in interpreting the educational programs to the parents.
Assists in the identification and diagnosis of student problems.
Serves as a liaison in the utilization of community resources in assisting an individual child or family in the coordination of services between public agencies and the school.
Consults with both regular and special education teachers.
Maintains case records on all referred students.
Recommends preventative, corrective, and remedial techniques.
Attends Eligibility Reviews concerning placement or supportive services for individual students with hospitalizations and /or private placements.
Consults with parents and completes the Social History component of the case study.
Attends all building ER/IEP/RTI meetings as appropriate.
Conducts individual, group, or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problems would benefit from therapeutic intervention.
Provides crisis intervention in emergency situations which may necessitate changes in the environment, protection for an abused child, etc.
Attends staff, professional, and inter-agency meetings.
Assists in in-service training of the staff in the appropriate areas.
Conducts appropriate research and keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
Completes other duties as assigned by administration pertaining to aforementioned position.

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate School Social Worker Endorsement or as set by Illinois State Board of Education licensure authorities.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
