Bilingual Paraprofessional

Duties

The position provides assistance to the general education teachers in the daily instruction of bilingual students in grades 5-8. The work involves providing literacy and math instruction and support to bilingual students in grades 5-8 along with translating directions and information to bilingual students when they are in their general education classes.

  • Provides literacy and math practice and support to 5-8 bilingual students in collaboration with general education teachers. 
  • Provides literacy and math practice via google classroom and google meets for remote learning groups.  
  • Becomes knowledgeable of teaching methods and materials to support language development.  
  • Prepares instructional materials, performs designated lessons with students, uses supplementary learning materials as needed.
  • Observes and reports student progress to ESL teacher.
  • Follows instructional schedule developed by ESL teacher.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrator.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking)
  • Minimum possesses Paraprofessional license
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating instructions, etc.
  • Ability to speak effectively using proper grammar
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to problem-solve, maintain confidentiality, and work with a team
  • Basic technology skills and knowledge of Google Suite preferred

Salary & Benefits

Benefits include Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund participation, as well as sick and personal days.  The pay rate for paraprofessionals for the 2025-2026 school year is $18.00 per hour.

Additional Notes

Hours
Approximately 7:45am-3:10pm during student attendance days.
