Instruction and Student Support

  • Plan, organize, and implement appropriate grade-level material and lessons for students
  • Prepare lesson plans and materials in a timely manner
  • Develop curriculum to meet educational and developmental needs/goals
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom
  • Accurately maintain grades, attendance, and discipline records using our student information system
  • Deliver instructional learning activities that facilitate engaged, active learning
  • Inspire, education, and encourage students on a daily basis in order to help them reach their goals
  • Build positive relationships/rapport with staff and students
  • Establish a purposeful and safe learning environment for students by establishing and managing a clear and positive behavior system
  • Prepare and execute lessons using a variety of learning methods
  • Attend professional development when the opportunity arises
  • Understand and implement effective classroom management
  • Collaborate with staff to plan, develop, and implement curriculum
  • Maintain professionalism including, but not limited to, showing respect, dressing appropriately, displaying punctuality, attending meetings, sharing ideas
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to issues related to gender, sexual identity and orientation, social and economic status, ethnicity, race, language, and religion
  • Create clear and accurate classroom expectations
  • Display an understanding and acknowledgement of students’ backgrounds and lives outside of the classroom
  • Engage and motivate students to encourage a high level of student participation
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students enrolled in the credit recovery program to help them successfully complete required coursework.
  • Monitor student progress through online or blended learning platforms, ensuring students stay on pace to meet credit recovery deadlines.
  • Facilitate learning in alignment with district curriculum, state standards, and graduation requirements.
  • Offer academic support and tutoring in core subject areas as needed to reinforce understanding and mastery of content.
  • Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and assign grades in accordance with district grading policies.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress, attendance, and completion rates.

Program Management

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and completed coursework in the student information system (e.g., Skyward).
  • Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to identify eligible students and develop individualized credit recovery plans.
  • Ensure academic integrity by supervising assessments and verifying that students complete their own work.
  • Coordinate schedules and testing arrangements for students completing online or competency-based modules.
  • Manage access to credit recovery software and ensure appropriate student placement within courses.
  • Track and report student completion data to school and district administration for accountability purposes.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and training related to instructional technology, credit recovery, and student engagement.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district, state, and federal guidelines related to student records (FERPA compliance).
  • Implement and uphold classroom management and behavioral expectations that promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Serve as an advocate for at-risk students, providing mentorship and encouragement to help them re-engage with their education.
  • Collaborate with teachers of record to align instruction and ensure students meet learning targets for credit recovery courses.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and student outcomes to continuously improve program effectiveness.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • IL State Professional Educator License or substitute license with a state-issued IEIN Number

Salary/Benefits

Salary: $50,000
