Full-Time Junior High Science Teacher

Duties

Heritage CUSD #8 is seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Junior High Science Teacher to join our dedicated middle grades team. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, foster critical thinking, and engage students in hands-on learning experiences that make science meaningful and fun.

As part of our collaborative district team, you will work alongside supportive colleagues, participate in professional learning, and help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle Grades Science endorsement (5–8) or equivalent secondary science certification.

  • Strong understanding of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) and inquiry-based instruction.

  • Commitment to differentiated instruction, data-driven decision making, and positive classroom management.

  • Ability to integrate STEM concepts, hands-on labs, and technology to enhance student engagement.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Health Education endorsement.

  • Experience with cross-curricular collaboration (e.g., STEM, math, or health integration).

  • Familiarity with IXL, Amplify Science, or other interactive learning platforms.

Starting salary for BA candidate current contract year is $46,453. Tuition or PD $800 per year reimbursement … Single Paid Blue Cross/Blue Shield benefit at 95% paid (value approximately $10,000)Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance also available at small monthly cost.
