LBS1 - Teacher (Homebound Instructor in High School Building After Regular School Hours)

Duties

Overview:
Mount Pulaski CUSD #23 is seeking a qualified Homebound Teacher to provide individualized instructional support to a high school student with autism. Instruction will take place on-site at Mount Pulaski High School with a parent chaperone present. This position requires an educator who is patient, flexible, and skilled in adapting instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Duties

  • Provide direct instruction to a single high school student with autism, aligned to the student’s academic needs and IEP goals.
  • Adapt and modify curriculum and instructional materials to support learning and engagement.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing updates to school staff and parents.
  • Collaborate with families and school personnel to ensure continuity of instruction.
  • Establish and maintain a supportive and structured learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist I) Endorsement required.
  • Experience working with students with autism is preferred.
  • Strong skills in differentiation, behavior support, and individualized instruction.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.

Salary/Benefits

  • Position is a maximum of 7 hours per week (inclusive of instructional time and preparation time) on official school days.

Additional Notes

  • Instruction occurs at Mount Pulaski High School with a parent chaperone present.
  • Sessions are held Monday through Thursday, 3:20 p.m. – 4:35 p.m., with additional paid preparation time determined by the teacher.
  • Instructional days follow the official MPCUSD #23 school calendar.
