School Psychologist

Duties

Purpose

The School Psychologist applies professional expertise in service to the improvement of learning opportunities for students, especially students with learning and behavior differences. The School Psychologist provides leadership in the IEP and 504 processes, collaborates with others in the problem solving process, and works with other professionals to provide instructional and intervention programs consistent with the district's vision and mission for the Professional Learning Community.


Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with staff at both the district and school level to make decisions regarding early intervention and prevention of learning difficulties.
  • Consults with teachers, teams and parents to design appropriate academic and behavioral instruction and intervention plans.
  • Administers appropriate evaluation and assessment tools, including psychological instruments, to identify specific student needs and make recommendations directly linked to classroom instruction.
  • Collaborates with teachers, related services colleagues and other educators to provide instruction and other services directly to students.
  • Collaborates with teachers and related services colleagues to implement academic and behavioral interventions that are appropriate to the developmental needs of the student.
  • Provides leadership in facilitating the IEP, 504 and problem solving processes.
  • Plans for and supports the programming and services within the school and district.
  • Promotes practices that support creative problem solving throughout the school.
  • Collaborates with district and school administrators to establish and maintain clear procedures for problem solving.
  • Consults with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Assesses student needs through the IEP, 504 and problem solving process.
  • Plans, evaluates or supports student progress in interventions.
  • Collaborates with staff to compile, analyze, and communicate student data.
  • Communicates with families through evaluation and/or problem-solving processes.
  • Collaborates with administrators and social workers to provide crisis support and intervention.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Produces well-written, clear and thorough reports.

 

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License with School Psychologist Endorsement 

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range $76,831- $85,271. Based on experience and education level.
