Position Summary:
The Director of Instructional Framework and Instructional Support will lead and support the implementation of a high-quality instructional delivery system aligned with Illinois Learning Standards and the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) model. This role will focus on strengthening teacher practice across all content areas by providing direct instructional coaching, facilitating professional learning, and ensuring fidelity to the district’s instructional framework. The Director will work collaboratively with school leaders, department chairs, and central office teams to ensure consistent, equitable, and rigorous instruction in every classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Framework Leadership

  • Lead the development, refinement, and implementation of a districtwide instructional framework centered around the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR).
  • Collaborate with instructional leadership teams to ensure alignment of daily instruction to Illinois Learning Standards.
  • Provide clarity and guidance to teachers and administrators on expectations for lesson design and delivery.

Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support

  • Provide ongoing coaching and job-embedded support to teachers to strengthen lesson design, instructional delivery, and student engagement.
  • Model effective instructional practices aligned with the GRR framework and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Support teachers in using formative assessment and student data to inform instruction and adjust strategies in real time.

Professional Learning & Development

  • Design and lead targeted professional development aligned to instructional priorities, including workshops, PLC facilitation, and classroom-based coaching cycles.
  • Partner with school-based instructional teams to differentiate support based on content area and teacher need.
  • Build teacher leadership by facilitating collaboration, peer learning, and sharing of effective practices.

Instructional Quality & Alignment

  • Collaborate with building administrators to calibrate expectations for high-quality instruction and support school-level instructional improvement plans.
  • Conduct classroom walk-throughs and instructional rounds to identify trends and inform districtwide improvement strategies.
  • Support curriculum alignment efforts and ensure that instructional resources are used effectively and equitably.

Data-Driven Decision-Making

  • Monitor and analyze instructional data to identify patterns, strengths, and areas for growth in teacher practice and student outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to district leadership on the implementation and impact of instructional initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field (preferred).
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsements.
  • Minimum of 10 years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in standards-based instruction, lesson planning, and the Gradual Release of Responsibility model.
  • Prior experience as an instructional coach, department chair, or curriculum leader (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build trust with a diverse group of educators and stakeholders.

Terms of Employment:
