ESL Teacher Share: Print: Duties Key Responsibilities: Instruction & Student Support Design and deliver effective ESL instruction in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Develop differentiated lesson plans based on students’ language proficiency levels and grade levels. Collaborate with classroom teachers to support ELLs within core content instruction. Utilize visual aids, realia, and digital tools to enhance language acquisition. Assessment & Progress Monitoring Assess and monitor students’ English language development using state and district-approved tools. Maintain accurate records of student progress, language support services, and accommodations. Use data to inform instruction and make adjustments based on student needs. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with classroom teachers, interventionists, and special educators to align language support strategies. Participate in parent conferences and communicate regularly with families, including through interpreters as needed. Support the integration and orientation of new ELL students and their families into the school community. Compliance & Program Support Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district ESL regulations and documentation. Assist in ELL identification, placement, and exit procedures. Participate in professional learning and stay informed about best practices in ESL instruction and multicultural education. Qualifications Valid Illinois teaching certification with ESL endorsement or ESL certification. Experience working with English Language Learners in a K–8 setting (preferred). Strong understanding of second language acquisition and culturally responsive pedagogy. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Salary/Benefits Based on collective bargaining agreement.
