Industrial Technology Education Teacher

Duties

South Beloit High School is seeking a dynamic and skilled Industrial Technology Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in areas such as woodworking, metalworking, engineering, computer-aided design (CAD), and other technical and career-related fields. This position aims to develop students’ practical skills, critical thinking, and career-readiness in manufacturing, construction, and emerging technologies. This position is available as either full-time or part-time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging, standards-based lessons in industrial technology.

  • Teach courses such as Woods, Metals, Drafting, CAD, Robotics, Engineering, or other Career and Technical Education (CTE) subjects.

  • Promote safety in the classroom and lab/shop setting, ensuring use of proper safety procedures and equipment.

  • Develop and maintain an organized and well-equipped lab/shop.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEM concepts and cross-curricular learning.

  • Encourage student participation in technology/engineering competitions or organizations such as SkillsUSA or TSA.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.

  • Stay current on trends in industry and technology education, including green technologies and automation.

  • Participate in professional development and curriculum improvement initiatives.
  • Establish partnerships with local industry and post-secondary institutions to support student career pathways.

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement in Industrial Technology or Career and Technical Education.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of shop safety procedures, tools, and industrial technology systems.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and preparing students for 21st-century careers.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching high school students in a lab/shop environment.

  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) or CNC technologies.
  • Ability to support dual credit or industry credentialing opportunities.
