Duties
JOB GOAL: To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Curriculum Implementation: Develop and deliver engaging lessons directly aligned with grade-level standards and curriculum objectives. Enjoy various teaching strategies and instructional techniques to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities. Follow the district’s approved curriculum.
- Student Assessment: Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments. Use data to inform instructional decisions and tailor teaching approaches to meet individual student needs. Maintain appropriate student records.
- Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive classroom climate conducive to learning. Set clear expectations for behavior and academic performance and implement effective strategies to manage student behavior.
- Differentiated Instruction: Differentiate instruction to address students’ unique needs and interests. Provide additional support or enrichment activities as necessary to ensure all students reach their full potential.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and well-being. Participate in team/faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and parent-teacher conferences to foster a collaborative learning community.
- Professional Growth: Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness and stay abreast of best practices in education. Reflect on teaching practices and seek feedback to improve instructional delivery and student outcomes.
- Maintain Records: Maintain accurate, complete, and current records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
Salary/Benefits
Commensurate with salary schedule within the Knoxville Education Association (KEA)
