Duties
VACANCY: The Valley View Public School District is seeking an individual to fill a temporary, full-time School Psychologist position for the remainder of the 24-25 school year (Less than 120 days) .
JOB SUMMARY: The psychologist is responsible to the Building Principal and the Director of Special Education for working cooperatively with school personnel in the identification, diagnosis, and remediation of individual students with specialized needs. Conduct and report upon assessment results for students during the entitlement and re-evaluation processes. Support instruction by working with students in a counseling manner. An understanding of and the ability to apply knowledge regarding problem-solving, curriculum based measures, and response to intervention is desired.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assess the academic, behavioral and emotional need of students using
formal and informal assessment instruments. Conduct observations of
students in classrooms and at play. Assist in interpreting assessments
and diagnostic findings.
- Counsel and assist students and families in improving social, emotional,
behavioral and academic deficiencies.
- Lead group sessions to enhance social and emotional development of
students and provide peer support.
- Consult with teachers, parents and staff to develop intervention strategies,
based on review of student assessments that ensures student success
and growth.
- Meet regularly and work collaboratively with staff to discuss individual
student’s modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues,
interventions and concerns.
- Actively participate on problem solving and intervention teams to facilitate
early involvement and resolution to learning and behavioral problems.
- Complete required documentation such as IEP reports, Behavior
Intervention Plans, goals or social development studies.
- Actively participate on and/or lead school crisis intervention teams.
Participate or facilitate meetings or activities related to school or student
needs as necessary.
- Establish a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment.
Act as a role model on appropriated behaviors ensuring social and
emotional development is progressing normally.
- Enforce and support District and School policies, philosophies and
objectives with students and parents.
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities in order
to maintain professional growth. Plan and implement best practices and
strategies.
- Participate in events outside of the regularly scheduled work day.
Salary/Benefits
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary is in accordance with the teacher salary schedule. The District offers excellent fringe benefits such as health, dental and life insurance.
Additional Notes
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an environment where unusual temperature, noise and hazards are relatively nonexistent. Work requires very infrequent lifting, pulling or pushing during the normal performance of tasks and responsibilities.
