Duties

  • Serve duties assigned as case manager of students with IEPs.
  • Consult with classroom teachers and parents.
  • Deliver services via IEP framework.
  • Serve as instructor within general and special education classroom.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward academic achievement and curriculum goals.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects and communicates these objectives to the students.
  • Provides instruction at a professional level of competence.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Administers and analyzes standardized testing data and adjusts instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize probability of student success.
  • Recognizes the special needs of students, seeks the assistance of district specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom.
  • May serve on building-level and district-wide committees, e.g., curriculum resource adoption and curriculum writing.
  • Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities.
  • Assists in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develops and informs students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior and maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment.
  • All other duties that may be assigned by the district administration.

Qualifications

  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with required content endorsements Learning Behavior Specialist.
  • Bilingual Education Teacher – Spanish Endorsement
  • Bilingual, Spanish Required
  • ELA endorsed preferred
  • Ability to meet both the academic and developmental needs of students.
  • Ability to teach within a culturally and linguistically diverse setting to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and textbooks.
  • Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
  • Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals and groups of educators, administrators, parents, students, and the public.
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge of IEP electronic programs
  • Basic assistive technology knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction.
