Duties

Reports to: Building Principal

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Adheres to the Board of Education policies and procedures.
  • Strives to implement by the performance of job responsibilities the district philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the time designated.
  • Makes adequate preparation for daily instruction.
  • Coordinates and/or assists with identification of targeted students and or classrooms.
  • Provides special education services to targeted students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. 
  • Participates in the development and implementation of individual service plans as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by law, district policy, or building procedures.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and is responsible for the maintenance of student discipline in the classroom in accordance with school board policy.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Reports suspected child abuse/neglect cases as required by statute and district policy.
  • Collaborates and communicates with parents.
  • Collaborates and communicates with building staff members.
  • Supervises paraprofessionals as appropriate.
  • Participates in appropriate professional development.
  • Meets accepted standards of the Professional Code of Ethics.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the principal or designee that the employee is qualified to perform.

Qualifications

Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License for grade levels appropriate to Building/Position.

 

Salary/Benefits

$29.81/hour,  29.75 hours / week
