St. Louis Catholic Academy is a faith-filled, K-8 school. We are a vibrant, urban community committed to partnering with families and ensuring each student's success. Our school offers students a "family feel" and wrap-around support to help our students thrive through high school and beyond.
Elementary teachers at St. Louis Catholic Academy play a crucial role in nurturing young minds, fostering academic growth, and instilling strong moral values in our students. Elementary teachers are responsible for providing high-quality instruction in reading and math while integrating principles of faith into daily lessons and interactions. The ideal candidate would be a faith-filled person, with a valid state teaching certification.
St. Louis Catholic Academy will relocate to a newly renovated school building (1106 North Jefferson Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63106) for the 2024-2025 school year.
Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the school's curriculum and Catholic/Christian teachings.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to engage students in meaningful learning experiences.
- Foster critical thinking skills and creativity among students.
Spiritual Formation:
- Integrate Catholic teachings, values, and traditions into daily lessons and activities.
- Lead prayer, devotions, and religious ceremonies.
- Facilitate discussions on moral and ethical topics in accordance with the Catholic Faith
Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and spiritual growth.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and discipline consistent with Catholic/Christian values.
- Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and kindness among students.
Assessment and Feedback:
- Assess student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and character development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data and modify instruction as needed.
Parent and Community Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, school events, and opportunities for involvement.
- Collaborate with parents, parish leaders, and community members to support the school's mission and initiatives.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and extracurricular activities.
Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of Catholic education.
- Stay informed about current educational trends, instructional strategies, and Catholic teachings.
- Contribute to the professional learning community by sharing best practices and collaborating with colleagues.
