Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision of the District Nurse assigned to the student’s program.
- The 1:1 nurse assistant’s primary responsibility is to the individual student’s health and safety needs.
- When these needs are met, the nurse will follow the duties outlined for the general teacher paraprofessional and 1:1 paraprofessional.
- Successfully complete inservice activities related to students individual health needs, procedures and emergencies.
- Demonstrate continuing competence in daily and emergency procedures.
- Document procedures and health status of student on daily log.
- Communicate changes in health status of student to District Nurse, teacher and parent.
- Check medical and emergency equipment daily as needed.
- Accompany and monitor student to and from school and during community activities.
- Work with the District Nurse in developing and updating the health care plan.
- Provide lifting, student escort and/or positioning tasks as needed.
- Implement approved student safety procedures.
Salary/Benefits
Starting at $34/per hour or depending on years of experience.
