Duties
The Assistant Director of Learning Services (PK-8) provides direction and coordination for the effective implementation of the district’s curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This position focuses on integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and instructional coaching to create a comprehensive and effective learning environment to ensure equitable outcomes for all learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the continual design, development, and evaluation of curricular materials that meet the Illinois Learning Standards.
- Ensure curriculum reflects best practices, differentiation strategies, and is responsive to the needs of diverse learners including but not limited to Multilingual learners, dual language students, students receiving special education services and accelerated learners.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the curriculum through data analysis and feedback mechanisms.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of the District 15 Strategic Plan.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement interventions for students at various levels of need.
- Evaluate, support, and provide direction to district instructional coaches.
- Plan and coordinate professional learning opportunities that align with the goals of the district and the needs of teachers.
- Stay current with educational research, best practices, and emerging trends to inform professional learning initiatives.
- Design and implement summer school programming to enhance and extend the academic school year.
- Follow all policies and procedures of District 15 along with state and federal regulations pertaining to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and IDEA.
- Oversee the continual design, development and evaluation of a robust MTSS framework to address the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students.
- Maintain a sustainable MTSS SEL System including Restorative Practices and Trauma Informed Practices.
- Implement MTSS equitable practices and monitor data to ensure all practices meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Support the school improvement planning process including data collection and analysis.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, administrative guidelines, or specific program requirements.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
- Attend team/parent meetings as required in order to provide input to teams regarding student strengths and areas of growth.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with staff and the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director of Learning Services.
Qualifications
Qualification Requirements:
- Master’s Degree and possession of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with administrative endorsement or principal endorsement.
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Experience with Professional Learning Communities.
- Understanding of the developmental progression of children’s SEL skills.
- Understanding of Illinois Social Emotional Learning Standards & Illinois Learning Standards.
- Possess skills in collecting, interpreting, and communicating data to a variety of audiences.
- Possess excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge in support and intervention strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members.
- Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in demanding situations.
- Possession of or willingness to complete ISBE teacher evaluation modules.
