Duties

  • Provide leadership to other staff members in the area of building/custodial maintenance.
  • Create and monitor on-call and overtime schedules.
  • Interview and recommend employment of department personnel.
  • Evaluate employee performance, conduct employee evaluations, provide support for continuous employee performance improvement, and assist in employee remediation process.
  • Assist in the record-keeping of departmental personnel issues such as absenteeism, vacations, and other leaves of absence.
  • Receive, prioritize, and assign work orders.
  • Assist Director of Business Operations in maintenance purchasing and contractor services.
  • Inspect and complete preventative maintenance tasks District-wide.
  • Create standard procedures and protocols for maintenance duties; implement the same.
  • Facilitate periodic maintenance staff meetings with the Director of Business Operations.
  • Assist supervisor with the development and implementation of annual operating and capital budget and development of long-term capital plan. 
  • Perform on-call coverage as required.
  • Recognize and observe safety and good housekeeping precautions; report concerns to the Director of Business Operations.
  • Ensure that required inspections are completed on a timely basis and report the same to the Director of Business Operations.
  • Maintain District 160 quality standards for plant operations and maintenance of facilities.
  • Maintains all safety and code requirements of the State, local, and Board of Education.
  • Report immediately any damage or vandalism to facilities, or theft of equipment.
  • Attend required meetings, including Safety Trainings and complete all GCN modules, and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees.
  • Use Computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.
  • Participate in appropriate in –service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
  • Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase, assists in maintaining the inventory of District-owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or certificate in related field preferred
    • GED or equivalent is required
  • Any combination of training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities to perform the job duties. 
  • Supervisory or team leader experience preferred
  • Knowledge of custodial standards, code laws, and regulations
  • Job related experience within a maintenance field is mandatory. 
  • Valid driver license
