Duties

The candidate must be skilled at writing and implementing Individual Education Plans, creating lesson plans designed to support mastery of student objectives, delivering high quality instruction using best practices, developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans, differentiating, accommodating or modifing instruction or curriculum according to each student’s learning profile, administering student assessments, collecting, analyzing and evaluating student proficiency based on assessment data, analyze student performance in relation to grade level peers in order to determine a student’s appropriate needs and placement, creating a safe and positive classroom environment, teaching, implementing and sustaining a positive behavioral system, encouraging positive peer relationships and individual development of social skills, supervising and monitoring student behavior, establishing effective management procedures for the use of materials and supplies, accurately and thoroughly completing student records and reports, initiating, coordinating and participating in PST, IEP and 504 meetings, promoting appropriate student technology use, developing and fostering a positive relationship with each student and their parents/ guardians, participating in school-community functions, encouraging parent support of and involvement in school programs, and communicating with parents to discuss students’ progress.

 

Qualifications

The candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills. They must be self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with a team. Must have experience working with special needs children and a knowledge of child development. Must have an Illinois license including LSB I. The right candidate with an interest in obtaining an LBS I endorsement will be considered.

Salary/Benefits

Regionally competitive based on qualifications, experience and collective bargaining agreement.
