Duties

  • Carries out daily responsibilities for their individual student
  • Work 1:1 with students to implement goals, objectives and behavior plan
  • Daily evaluation of sensory needs
  • Daily evaluation of programs
  • Collaborate with Teachers and Program Manager regarding student performance
  • Bring ideas and questions to team
  • Daily staff meetings
  • Weekly team meetings
  • Daily documentation in student’s Program Books and Data
  • Read and report daily in Home Log
  • Keep classroom clean, materials organized
  • Keep school clean
  • Work as part of a team
  • Communicates with staff through proper chain of command
  • Attend all Specials and carryover OT, ST, PT, LifeSkills, Music, Aug Com etc, into natural environment teaching
  • Participate in before and after school meetings
  • Organize student’s program materials and learning area
  • Participate in all field trips
  • Complete injury, property destruction and PCM debriefing form the same day of occurrence
  • Debrief within 24 hours of incidents
  • Participate in PCM
  • Maintain student, parent and staff confidentiality
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Paraprofessional Certification from ISBE or Illinois State Board of Education Substitute Teacher Certification (Type39) and above

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Desire to work with children on the autism spectrum
  • Detail Demonstrate ability to quickly problem solve and multi-task
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately to meet service goals
  • Demonstrate ability to relate effectively and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers and staff
  • Ability to be CPR/First Aid Certified and maintain certifications
  • Successful completion of PCM certification and annual recertification
  • Exhibit professional conduct with school colleagues, students, parents, school districts, and the community-at-large in accordance with ALCA policies, procedures and work rules
  • Maintain employee confidence by keeping all employee and student information confidential
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as assigned
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, etc.
