Special Education Teacher

Duties

Prairie Hill School District is seeking a Special Education teacher who has the unique ability to connect with students, as well as provide individual attention and instruction throughout the course of the day.  Individual will be responsible for case management of students with Individualized Education Plans, direct instruction, consultation to regular education teachers, and work alongside paraeducators to create the best educational programming for students.  Prairie Hill School District Special Education Teachers are driven by our district’s mission statement of ‘Students First, Always’.  PHSD #133 Teachers should have a positive demeanor and the ability to work both independently and closely with the administration, teachers, and students.  They will perform their responsibilities so that a safe learning environment is provided for all students. PHSD #133 Teachers will also take pride in their work, building and district duties. Job duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Actively support the mission of the school and district, "Students First, Always."
  • Create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
  • Provide opportunities for all students to experience success, based upon their individual ability and potential
  • Plan and implement lessons in accordance with the Illinois Standards
  • Assess and monitor student progress through standards-referenced instruction and grading
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives
  • Inform parents of academic and behavioral progress, concerns, and long-range expectations
  • Participating in building/district special education team meetings and processes
  • Work to collaborate and plan with educational teams in support of academic and behavioral interventions for students
  • Responsible for components of Individualized Education Plans and 504 plans
  • Completion of evaluations and paperwork in a timely and efficient manner, as well as participation in IEP and 504 meetings
  • Involvement in crisis prevention and intervention
  • Support implementation of district policies and procedures, regulations, and administrative directives

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must possess a PEL and certifications where necessary, including an LBS1 endorsement.  Pay will be based on experience and education on the certified salary schedule.
