Duties
Immediate opening for a Special Education Teacher. A Special Education Teacher provides academic and behavioral instruction to students on a daily basis. Teachers are responsible for a classroom of up to 10 students, assisted by a Teaching Assistant, and establishing and carrying out the IEP by implementing daily programming. Teachers are the main change agents for students' academic and behavioral growth and serve as role models for students. A Teacher must not only provide for the academic needs of students, but also for the social/emotional well-being and behavioral needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in education with the LBS I/II certification or approval to teach special education by ISBE -Demonstrates knowledge of students' needs and differentiates instruction. Uses reflection to improve instruction. Creates an environment of respect and rapport. Ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner. Manages classroom procedures. Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness. Manages student behavior by setting clear standards of conduct.
