Duties
The WACC Building Principal is responsible to the WRVS/WACC Director and and will be responsible for the following:
Administrative
- Collaborate in development of policies and procedures relating to WACC programs with EFE Director
- Collaborate in reviewing, interviewing, and recommending applicants for employment at WACC with EFE Director
- Collaborate in identifying, developing, and implementing staff development (ie. in-service trainings, workshops, professional development) for WACC under the guidance of the EFE Director
- Develop strategies for communicating the mission and operations for WACC to the membership and public
- Collect, compile, and submit the course enrollment information, earned credit, and earned grades as required by the Illinois State Board of Education (SIS)
- Review Code of Conduct expectations with student body: dispersing, collecting, and assuring signatures (Code of Conduct Acknowledgement, Internet Policy, Media / Promotional Release)
- Address and resolve student discipline issues as they arise at WACC. Communicate with home districts and parents when necessary and make recommendations for remediation.
- Collaborate with the EFE director and assist with the evaluation of WACC building teachers and other building staff.
Special Population Student Services
- Assist the faculty in meeting the IEP accommodations of special population students
- Assist the faculty by collecting and sharing appropriate special population student information (i.e. IEPs)
- Communicate with counselors, case managers and parents of special population students to enable all stakeholders to monitor and support student progress
- Coordinate placement of special population students in Work Based Learning sites within the local communities
- Collect, compile and maintain data pertaining to the special population students enrolled in the career center and the member high schools as required by Perkins IV
- Intervention for students failing classes throughout the school year.
Career and College Planning
- Attend meetings relating to dual credit, college entrance, apprenticeship programs and/or financial aid
- Provide vocational guidance and information for students seeking a future other than college
- Remain up-to-date on changing job-entry skill requirements and changing technologies in business and industry
- Inform local business and industry of vocational education programs in the career center, and seek information regarding their job requirements
- Arrange for business and industrial representatives to interview graduates as prospective employees
- Maintain a file of catalogs, school profiles, and scholarship aid information related to technical schools, colleges, and apprenticeship programs
- Assist students in filling out applications, composing cover letters, creating resumes and conducting mock interviews
- Prepare follow-up studies of former WACC students
WBL - Internship Program
- Communicate with WACC Instructors / Programs and assist with the placement of qualifying students in WBL worksite placements
- Maintain regular contact with WBL worksites to assure satisfaction with the student and the WBL program
- Meet weekly with the students placed in WBL worksites to confirm / verify log sheet data
- Perform WBL worksite visits a minimum of once per semester to assure participation / satisfaction
- Disperse / collect WBL Performance Evaluations to be completed by the worksite supervisor for each student
Marketing WACC
- Assist in giving tours of the various WACC programs
- Visit area high schools and give a WACC presentation to their sophomores
- Attend counselor luncheons and provide additional information to counselors
- Assist Director with Career Quest when local eighth grade students tour WACC
Other
- Take Student of the Month pictures to honor student achievement
- Assist all student in developing a resume for their portfolio
3. Substitute for WACC instructors when necessary
Qualifications
Type 75 administrative certificate or ability to obtain. It is preferred that candidates hold at least 2000 hours of work experience in one career pathways offered at WACC. (Automotive, Tech, Health Sciences, Education, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Building Trades, Manufacturing)
Salary/Benefits
This salary and benefits package will be commensurate to comparable salaries in the region and dependant on the qualifications of the suitable candidate.
