Middle School Bilingual Teacher-1975

Duties

The bilingual teacher provides direct instruction in both English and Spanish for English Language Arts and collaborates with the general classroom teachers, using the co-teaching model, to provide support for students in math, social studies, and science. The bilingual teacher is responsible for working with the general classroom teacher to plan and co-teach engaging lessons that are aligned to the curriculum and modified to meet the needs and abilities of the students. The bilingual teacher collaborates with the general education teacher to develop and implement modifications and intervention strategies, thus ensuring that students are successful, and their educational needs are met in all school settings. The bilingual teacher monitors student progress using a variety of assessments, and communicates regularly with parents, staff, and administrators. Two eighth grade positions are available for the 2026-2027 school year.   

Qualifications

  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with middle school education and bilingual (BSPA) endorsements.
  • Candidates who have obtained an ELS(TBE) license will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of the WIDA and state standards, and instructional best practices in language, literacy, and mathematics.
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction.
  • Individual must be flexible, creative and student centered.
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed.
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Able to work with a diverse student population and establish open and regular communication with parents and guardians.
  • Candidate must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.

  • Middle School Work Hours: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
