Duties
Rantoul Township High School has an opening for a Family Consumer Science Teacher. Family Consumer Science classes are some of the most requested classes at RTHS, and because of this the FCS program at RTHS is a three teacher program. RTHS enjoys the demographics of a small urban community in a rural setting. The student population is around 900 students. The Family Consumer Science team offers culanary, textile, child/human development, hospitality, and interior design courses. FCS facilities include a textiles lab/classroom, commercial kitchen//classroom and auxilary classroom. A culture of collaboration has been established throughout the school. RTHS receives students from 6 different feeder schools. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic who is focused on student success. RTHS has a strong technology base. Chromebooks are widely utilized throughout the school. RTHS is committed to recruiting, hiring and retaining candidates of diversity.
Qualifications
Illinois teacher licensure in the appropriate content area or a Career and Technical Educator License. RTHS is willing to help the right candidate with industry experience obtain a Career and Technical Educator License.
Salary/Benefits
Salary and benefits can be found in the collective bargaining agreement at www.rths193.org. The school district recognizes years of service when placing teachers on the salary schedule. Salary is based on experience and education level. The school district pays 100% of the employee's healthcare insurance premiums. Tuition reimbursement is available for advanced education. RTHS has an established mentoring program for new teachers. Professional Development is highly encouraged and supported financially by the district.
