Duties

  • Fosters a creative, flexible and enthusiastic environment that serves and inspires student engagement and learning

  • Utilizes flexibility, creativity, and initiative in curriculum creation and delivery

  • Maintains positive and professional relationships with administration, Board of Education, faculty/staff and parents

  • Cooperatively plans and participates in multiple art shows each school year

  • Cooperatively facilitates dialogue with our feeder school art programs

  • Demonstrate exceptional content knowledge and pedagogical skill in art, with the ability to adapt instruction to suit a diverse range of student backgrounds and interests

  • Employ effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with students, faculty, and parents, to ensure a cohesive educational experience for students.

  • Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages student collaboration and discourse, enhancing the learning experience for all.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and refine course learning objectives, common assessments, and curricula.

  • Participate in team-based approaches to student remediation and the continuous enhancement of instructional practices.

  • Partner with Special Education and Student Services to meet the needs of identified students.

  • Use technology proficiently and ethically for planning, collaboration, instruction, and assessment.

Qualifications

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Art endorsement - required

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program - preferred

  • Experience teaching art at the high school level - preferred

Lake Forest High School District 115 is seeking a creative, experienced, and engaging Art Teacher substitute for January of 2025 with an emphasis in animation, 2D AP Art, ceramics, and photography. The candidate should have a strong command of designing, delivering, and assessing student growth in an environment that incorporates inquiry, feedback, critical thinking, and effective assessment practices for all students. The candidate will be part of a very collaborative Art team that works together to creatively support one another and the growth of students.
