Duties
- Implement Social Emotional Learning Curriculum lessons in elementary classrooms, Pre-K - 5th
- Instruct students in citizenship, safety, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional matter and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Establish and maintain a set of classroom management skills that are consistent with the District policies and Board of Education approved Student Handbook.
- Meet and instruct assigned lessons in the locations and at the times designated.
- Prepare for lessons in classrooms assigned, and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of building principal.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the locations provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials in collaboration with the district social worker and relevant staff.
- Accepts a share of the responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with administration.
- Provide for her/his own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
- Incorporate Illinois State Standards and other mandated standards into instruction of students at an age-appropriate level.
- Develop, implement, and consistently update units of instruction if necessary.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Actively participate in all team, grade level, and committee meetings. Engage in conversation, bring needed information or research, help with planning, and cooperate with team members.

Additional Notes
This is a grant funded position that will be available for the remainder of the 24-25 school year. This position will only be continued if grant funds can be secured for additional years.
