Duties

Reporting to the Director of Special Education, the Special Education Monitoring Lead will support the monitoring team with the cyclical monitoring process and support the SSP/APR coordinator.

  • Leads and participates in monitoring and support teams.
  • Researches, develops, and provides training, technical assistance and coaching supports to school districts.
  • Develops and supports data analysis, improvement planning, and effective evaluation to improve results.
  • Makes findings and evaluates corrective action to address non-compliance.
  • Participates in the department's regulatory functions of general supervision.
  • Serves as an agency representative and provides technical assistance regarding collection and reporting of data, including the development and implementation of activities associated with the State Performance Plan and Board goals including field based supports.
  • Participates in the development and ongoing review/revision of publications, documents and other materials.
  • Serves as the State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report Lead, working with each of the eighteen indicator teams to ensure consistency and timeliness of the improvement activities and completing the State Systemic Improvement Plan.
  • Develops processes for the Special Education Accountability System, including cyclical monitoring of districts.
  • Coordinates the Local Education Agency (LEA) determination process, including convening the stakeholder group, providing technical assistance, and collaborating on the State Report Card and other public reporting.
  • Serves as a liaison between school districts and cooperatives and the department regarding special education services and the support of students having or suspected of having a disability.
  • Provides a point of contact within the Agency regarding assigned school districts.
  • Connects and follows up regarding questions and needs.
  • Identifies trends and provides proactive support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Special Education or Pupil Personnel Services. (COPY OF TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION)
  • Experience at the local, state, or university level working in the area of special education.
  • Experience with data.
  • Experience with school leadership and special education teaching, or related service experience.
  • Leadership experience with 2-5 years of experience working in a State Education Agency.
  • Experience leading teams and project management.
  • Skilled in Microsoft.
  • Project management skills.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Ability to travel for work when needed.
  • Able to self-start tasks, lead and build a strong team.
  • Ability to train and lead staff.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the indicators of the State Performance Plan.
  • Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.

  • Master's degree of Specialist in Education.

$75,395 - $124,402
Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
