Duties

PARAPROFESSIONAL

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENT
A. High school diploma required
B. Paraprofessional license issued by the State of Illinois


DESIRED SKILLS
A. Ability to exhibit tact and diplomacy in dealing with students, parents, and staff
B. Must be proficient in basic language and math skills
C. Effectively monitor student behavior in small groups
D. Demonstrate an understanding, patient, warm, and receptive attitude toward
children of all ages
E. Maintain an ability to accept, understand, and carryout oral and written
instructions


REPORTS TO
The paraprofessional is responsible to the classroom teacher, building principal, the Title I/ Special
Education Director
SUPERVISES
Students as directed by the classroom teacher, building principal, or Title I/ Special Educational Director


JOB GOAL


The paraprofessional is responsible for assisting students to improve their academic performance
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Administering, supervising, monitoring:
1. Written and computerized assessments (classroom, district, standardized)
2. Small group instruction - remedial, tutorial
3. Record keeping
4. Instructing small groups under the direction of teachers
5. Coordinating movement of students in and out of centers
6. Preparing materials for the Title I and/or Special Education students
7. Communicate daily with cooperating teachers
8. Provide student assistance during teacher instruction
B. To perform any other duties as assigned by the teacher, Title I/ Special Educational Director,
or building principal
C. The primary duties of the paraprofessional must always be in assisting students to improve
their academic performance


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT


Nine-month year. Salary established by the Board and according to the approved paraprofessional salary
schedule.

 

 

Qualifications

Associate's degree or 60 semester credit hours.  Candidate will need to apply for Illinois certification.

Salary/Benefits

Annual salary - $24,105 with health, life, vision and dental benefits
