Duties
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Cross-Categorical Special Education
Teacher endorsed in LBS1 to join our team for grades 6-8. This individual will provide specialized
instruction to students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about
supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of middle school students with disabilities,
fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes success for all learners.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with diverse
learning needs
Provide differentiated instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, utilizing
research-based strategies and accommodations to support academic progress.
Collaborate with general education teachers to modify curriculum and instructional
materials, ensuring accessibility for students with disabilities in inclusive settings.
Utilize data-driven assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instructional strategies,
and track attainment of IEP goals and objectives.
Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues, maintaining open
communication and actively involving families in the educational process.
Implement behavioral interventions and supports as needed to address social-emotional and
behavioral challenges, promoting a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to
review student progress, discuss concerns, and develop strategies for student success.
Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in
special education, instructional technology, and academic interventions.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required
Illinois Professional Educator License with LBS1 endorsement required.
Experience working with middle school students with disabilities, preferably in
cross-categorical settings.
Strong knowledge of ELA and Math curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and
assessment practices.
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities,
including those with executive functioning challenges.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
with colleagues, students, and families.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes
the success and well-being of all students.
Support students with diverse learning needs within a self-contained and general education
environment
