Duties

Job Responsibilities:
The Itinerant District Services Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) supports the TrueNorth mission and is committed to the possibilities in every learner, every day.  The District Services SLP strives to be a national leader and a highly valued partner with a courageous commitment to inclusive communities that equally value all people and inspire them to be active participants in our world.

The District Services SLP serves the communication needs of students across all ages and ability levels through assessment and intervention. The District Services SLP provides environmental supports and services to students, classroom teams, families, and other professionals to promote the development of effective instruction and to facilitate student educational access and communication. In addition, the District Services SLP engages in consultation and project support to develop innovative practice protocols.

Essential Job Functions:  

Itinerant District Services Speech-Language Pathologist

  • Consult and collaborate with parents, educators and other professionals to design and implement instructional interventions to address students’ communication needs.
  • Participate in communication skills assessment, administering and interpreting evaluation results.
  • Relate assessment information to interventions and strategies on an ongoing basis.
  • Relate all educational assessment information to develop a transdisciplinary approach.
  • Provide direct service to develop the communication skills needed for social and educational progress.
  • Participate in continuing professional development to improve and enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Be knowledgeable about and follow legal requirements and ethical SLP professional codes.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art augmentative and alternative communication technology as well as low-, mid-, and high-tech communication strategies and supports.
  • Assist students in developing speech and communication pragmatics in social situations.
  • Assist teachers in integrating a range of communication technology and strategies into curricula.
  • Collaborate with teams to share information and to plan and implement effective student programs.
  • Maintain service notes on the designated platform for students that are Medicaid eligible.


District Services Supports:

  • Take a leadership role in designing innovative and inclusive service protocols.
  • Provide consultation services to district programs and systems.
  • Provide project support around research, publication, professional development, on-demand training, etc.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Professional Educator License endorsed for Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Experience with students across age and ability levels.
  • Knowledgeable about augmentative and alternative communication and low-, mid-, and high-technology strategies and supports.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and provide project deliverables.


Preferred:

  • Experience providing inclusive SLP services to students across age and ability levels.
  • Experience providing itinerant SLP services across multiple districts, classes, and programs.

Compensation:
