Function / Position Summary
U-46 is committed to engaging in meaningful and productive relationships with all families and the greater community. The Family Engagement Coordinator will provide high quality family engagement opportunities district wide to strengthen the partnership between home and school with an emphasis on our birth to five population of students. They will identify opportunities to develop and foster strong relationships with families, staff, and community leaders and create structures and programs to develop parental and family leadership. Flexibility in hours required - some night and weekend responsibilities. Will be required to leave the main work site to attend District and community meetings/events.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Plan a yearly scope and sequence of family engagement and education initiatives that assist families in understanding how young children develop and learn, as well as, promote positive adult child interaction skills.
- Implements and shares researched-based, developmentally appropriate engagement opportunities that engage all families, acknowledging a range of abilities of students, as well as, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
- Plans and facilitates monthly Family Advisory Council meetings for families with children ages Birth-Age 5.
- Designs and implements strategies to assist and connect our families furthest from opportunity to school district and community services and reduces barriers to family engagement.
- Collaborates with community partners on shared Birth - Age 5 messaging projects.
- Participates in the Elgin Partnership for Early Learning (EPEL) meetings and activities.
- Effectively communicates with students, parents, colleagues and community partners.
- Creates and facilitates community partnerships with home daycare and community early childhood providers.
- Works cooperatively with building administration, department staff, families and community partners to ensure family needs are captured and represented in the engagement opportunities offered.
- Implements data tracking strategies that align with funder expectations around family engagement.
- Maintains social media platforms and presence on all digital media.
- Sets high expectations for family engagement.
- Participates in required district or state professional development activities.
- Maintains complete and correct records as required by law, district, and program policy.
- Other duties as assigned.
