Duties
Description: Full-time Career and Technical Education teacher in a 600 student middle school. Focus on Agriculture, Industrial, and Construction Trades.
Courses to be taught will include:
- 9-week quarterly classes for 7th and 8th grade students
Facilities and technology available include:
- New classroom facility with shop potential.
Applicant must be willing to:
- Prepare lesson plans, demonstrations, and materials focusing on hands-on activities focusing on the basics of industrial trades, construction trades, and agriculture to support curriculum development and instructional improvement of our new middle school vocational program.
- Use research based methods to develop engaging lessons that require higher order thinking.
- Coordinate, maintain inventories, and keep record of materials and equipment for classroom and laboratory.
- Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Ensure students are exposed to potential career opportunities as they move on to high school.
- Accommodate students with a variety of skills, abilities, and challenges.
- Work cooperatively with staff to support a collaborative school culture.
- Communicate effectively both written and verbal.
- Communicate high expectations for teaching and learning.
- Possess strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with CTE endorsement grades 6-12 preferred, or the ability to apply for a short-term approval in these areas.
