Duties

Relationship to the Organization:

  1. Demonstrates support for the beliefs, Vision, Mission, and Goals of District #303.
  2. Upholds and demonstrates compliance with the established laws, regulations, District policies and procedures.
  3. Maintains strictest confidentiality required by laws, regulations, policies and directives established or provided by the Board of Education and/or Superintendent.
  4. Meets deadlines for the submission of assigned reports and other requested information and records.
  5. Reads, understands, and interprets information and writes clearly about special education and student services, related issues, processes, and programs.
  6. Analyzes and interprets private evaluations including medical and psychological reports.
  7. Ability to calculate, analyze, and use data to render opinions and establish goals for improvement.
  8. Ability to use a database, spreadsheet, internet, and word processing programs.
  9. Prepares and delivers presentations in a variety of venues.
  10. Accepts and utilizes constructive suggestions from supervisor.
  11. Remains current in the field through the completion of related coursework, participation in in-service activities, and/or attendance at conferences and workshops.

  1. Fosters and maintains positive and effective  working relationships with teachers, administrators, support staff, district staff, students, parents, and the community.
  2. Communicates with appropriate professional personnel about students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and intervene on social, emotional, behavioral, and environmental issues that impact students’ ability to function and achieve in school.
  2. Abide by Illinois State Board of Education mandates which prioritize crisis intervention, social developmental studies, and social work related services listed on Individual Educational Plans.
  3. Abide by the professional social work code of ethics and ISE rules and regulations.
  4. Provide crisis, individual and group interventions as appropriate.
  5. Provide consultation services to faculty, co-team members, parents and other appropriate parties regarding the socio-cultural and emotional factors impacting on the student’s learning experiences.
  6. Diagnostic assessment for students needing initial evaluation or reevaluation.
  7. Conduct professional development/training and workshops for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  8. Provision of leadership in developing and coordinating school-community partnerships that includes school-based ad school-linked services.
  9. Development and implementation of intervention and prevention programs that will assist in the reduction of at-risk students.
  10. Participation in problem-solving initiatives in the school environment to support student success.
  11. Referral to, and consultation with, appropriate community agencies; development and coordination of relevant community resources to address specific needs of the students.
  12. Linkage of services and intervention strategies to the classroom to enhance the child’s overall educational development.

Qualifications

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

Must meet Illinois State Board of Education licensure requirements to hold a State of Illinois School Service Personnel license.  

 

Salary/Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a contract, and the salary
package will be regionally competitive, determined by professional qualifications
and achievements.  This position is funded through grant funds. 

Additional Notes

ISO Part time or full time. The School Social Worker enables students to achieve to their fullest potential academically by assisting students to develop coping skills, increase self-esteem, improve interactive skills, and facilitate environmental changes that will enable successful functioning within the learning setting. The School Social Worker provides crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services supporting mental health issues for students.
