Duties

This position is for the 2024-2025 School Year.  The Driver is responsible for the safe operation of a school bus transporting students or passengers to specified destinations based on established schedules. Performs all duties relative to the safe operation of a school bus.

Qualifications

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must possess or be able to obtain a CDL with passenger endorsement and a CDL with school bus endorsement.
  3. Possess a valid driver’s license, which has not been revoked, suspended, or canceled within the 3 years prior to the date of application.
  4. Must be able to meet all requirements for a school bus driver permit in accordance with the Illinois Administrative Code Chapter 2 SEC. 1035.15.

Salary/Benefits

1. Per the CBA, new route drivers are compensated at $32.75 per hour. Total of 3 clock hours per day (1.5 hrs for the morning route and 1.5 hrs for the afternoon route).  Extra trips for academic and athletic purposes are compensated at $15 per hour.  Plenty of opportunities for extra-duty trips available. 

2. Membership in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

3. 12 Sick days and 3 personal days each year.

4. The District will reimburse for mandatory annual physicals and licensing requirements.

Additional Notes

Urgently seeking a driver for the 2024-2025 School Year.  The district will train new drivers.  The position will remain open until filled.
