Duties
The Band Director will be responsible for delivering daily, half-day band instruction to junior high students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Additionally, the director will oversee instruction of the 5th grade band at three elementary schools on a rotating afternoon schedule.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating 5th grade band recruitment
- Organizing and leading the summer band jumpstart program, in-house solo contest, and community parade participation
- Developing and teaching student lessons
- Planning/leading rehearsals and coordinating performances for concert band, jazz band, and beginner band
Qualifications
Candidates for the Hester Junior High Band Director position must demonstrate a strong foundation in music education, with the expertise to teach and cultivate musical concepts, foster music appreciation, and deepen students' understanding through both study and performance. The ideal candidate will be skilled in building positive relationships with students and parents, while also possessing the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Salary/Benefits
The salary range begins at $55,509 and is adjusted upward based upon years of experience and educational attainment. Benefits include outstanding health insurance (with the Board picking up 85% of the premium for both single and family coverage), tuition reimbursement, and sick/personal leave.
