Duties
Department Leadership:
- Communicates with administrators, personnel and outside organizations for the purpose of coordinating activities, projects, resolving issues and conflicts and exchanging information
- Recommends policies, procedures or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the district goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute short and long range objectives as well as comprehensive cost control systems, monitor application of resources, project and service evaluation.
Personnel Management:
- Supervises department functions including evaluation, hiring/termination recommendations, planning/scheduling/coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting, etc… for the purpose of ensuring that the department functions in a safe and efficient manner.
- Inspects or delegates inspection of repair work, projects, equipment, work orders, daily maintenance and supplies for the purpose of ensuring that jobs are completed efficiently, specifications are within established guidelines and approving inspection reports and payment requests.
- Implements assigned activities and/or projects for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
Purchasing and Budget Management:
- Recommends budgets to leadership.
Capital Projects Planning and Execution:
- Management of capital construction projects and major renovations, systematic maintenance and improvement of all buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and facilities.
Project Maintenance and Repair Management:
- Evaluates facility repair and maintenance programs and/or projects for the purpose of carrying out and achieving objectives.
- Preventive maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.
Safety and Security:
- Researches a variety of topics for the purpose of developing new programs and services, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements, securing general information for planning, taking appropriate actions or responding to requests.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
- Supervises work and workplace safety and environmental standards for the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and district preventive maintenance processes.
Professional Development:
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose enhancing job knowledge and gathering information required to perform essential functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference or conveying information.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree;
Four to ten years experience in school facilities management
Working knowledge of HVAC systems and boilers
Working knowledge of various trades such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Gmail Contact Management systems; Excel, Google Sheets Spreadsheet software; Word, Google Docs Word Processing software and Programs necessary for various system operations Project Management software.
