Duties

– Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Exhibiting discretion and complete confidentiality pertaining to sensitive school and student matters, while maintaining confidential records and files
  • Possessing highly effective interpersonal communication skills, with a strong aptitude for speaking and writing
  • Managing a variety of complex duties while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and integrity

  • Participating in Professional Development activities to enhance skills
  • Evaluating the social, emotional, behavioral, and health needs of students which may include social developmental studies, standardized assessments, and formal observations
  • Identifying, creating, and implementing individualized research-based social work goals, positive interventions and supports, and services that will enhance student adjustment and performance in the school setting
  • Assisting in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and monitoring of Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed
  • Participating in Special Education, Individual Educational Planning (IEP), Problem Solving/MTSS, and Section 504 meetings
  • Using expertise in the areas of student social/emotional functioning to assist with data collection, progress monitoring, and/or classroom interventions
  • Providing services to students including individual and group counseling services, crisis interventions, intervention strategies to increase academic success, conflict resolution, anger management, coping, self-regulations and social interaction skills, and assisting the child in understanding and accepting self and others
  • Assisting with the investigation and intervention of bullying reports, as well as identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect
  • Providing services to parents by facilitating their support in their children’s school adjustment, assisting them in accessing and utilizing school and community resources available to the child, and participating in home visits as needed
  • Providing services to the district by evaluating building needs and developing and implementing responsive school-based prevention and intervention programs (SEL curriculum), participating in building or district committees, providing staff with direct support and essential information to better understand factors affecting a student’s performance and behavior, consulting and collaborating with teachers and other school personnel regarding behavior management and intervention strategies to facilitate optimal student functioning within the educational setting, developing staff in-service training programs when requested, and billing Medicaid for provided services
  • Serving as a liaison between school, families, and community resources, including obtaining and coordinating community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as possible in his/her educational program, while helping the system respond effectively to each child’s needs
  • Performing specified job duties effectively and efficiently, including additional duties as needed or assigned

Qualifications

Hold a valid Master's Degree in Social Work and an Illinois Professional Educator License with a Social Work Endorsement. 

Salary/Benefits

Salary & benefits are based on our current salary schedule and teacher contract.
