Duties

JOB GOAL:
Under the direction of the Building Administration and Director of Student Support Services, the Pre-Kindergarten/Early Childhood Teacher creates a nurturing and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. A Pre-kindergarten/Early Childhood teacher is committed to implementing evidence-based instructional strategies tailored to individual learning styles.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the curriculum goals, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience for young learners
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, establishing clear expectations and routines to promote a safe and conducive learning space for pre-kindergarten and early childhood students
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of young learners, providing support and challenges as necessary, and adapting teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles
  • Regularly assess and monitor students' progress, employing a variety of assessment tools and methods to inform instructional decisions and communicate progress to parents and caregivers
  • Implement strategies to support the social and emotional growth of students, including promoting positive peer interactions, teaching conflict resolution skills, and fostering a sense of community in the classroom
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized education Programs (IEP)
  • Plan and deliver curriculum for the purpose providing students with instructional content materials that address IEP goals/objectives, Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), and individualized learning styles
  • Collaborate with special education professionals, speech therapists, and other support staff to address the
    individual needs of students with diverse abilities, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive approach to education
  • Effectively communicate with parents by means of newsletter, emails, notes, phone calls, and individual parent
    conferences
  • Participate in developmental screenings and early intervention intake meetings
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education,
    attending workshops, conferences, and seeking out new resources to enhance teaching methods and strategies
  • Maintain updated CEU’s for licensure renewal
  • Perform other duties assigned by building or district administration in accordance with district policies, practices,
    and procedures

Qualifications

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • Early Childhood Education Endorsement
  • Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement
  • ESL Endorsement preferred
  • Bilingual preferred 

Salary/Benefits

Salary and work year established in accordance with the current negotiated contract.
