Duties

Program Overview:


The Regional Office of Education has the opportunity to serve the communities of Boone and
Winnebago Counties. The Professional Learning Specialist is focused on improving instructional
practices in classrooms to prepare students for success. The role involves aligning instructional
strategies to standards and providing guidance in all areas of education.

Job Summary:


The Professional Learning Specialist is responsible for understanding and aligning high-impact
instructional strategies to standards, providing guidance and professional learning in various
areas, and building trust and positive relationships with staff and students. The role includes
virtual and face-to-face workshops, coaching, assessments, goal setting, and action planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop best practices for academic and
    social-emotional growth.
  • Model and demonstrate appropriate presentations for students and teachers.
  • Assist teachers in making instructional decisions based on data.
  • Establish clear procedures for accessing instructional support.
  • Focus coaching on evidence gathering and data analysis.
  • Serve as an advocate for teachers and celebrate positive outcomes.
  • Assist with assessing district needs.
  • Coordinate personalized training, professional development, and coaching support aligned with needs.
  • Maintain data collection.
  • Collaborate with other School Support Services teams.
  • Create and deliver professional learning in-district based on contract specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Valid PEL Illinois educators licensure Required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • 2 - 3 years experience in classroom, co-teaching, instructional coaching, or similar
    background
  • Experience with adult learners preferred
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and work with a team
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Knowledge of best practices for professional learning
  • Continual learning and effective use of technology
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

Salary/Benefits

Salary Range based on qualifications: $52,500-$75,000

200 Day Contract

88% of Individual Health Insurance

  • High level of social interaction and communication (face-to-face, phone, virtual, and
    email)
  • Work in close proximity with others in the office
  • Remote work may be possible with approval
  • Fast-paced and high-stress workload at times
  • Flexible work hours with Supervisor approval
  • Travel required for meetings, professional development, and job responsibilities
  • Availability for unconventional hours beyond the normal duty day
