Duties

  1. Works with the Regional Office of Education to ensure compliance with the Block Grant that is provided through the Regional Office of Education.
  2. Provides learning experiences in language arts, physical education, art, music, health and other subject matter suited to the needs of pupils utilizing suggestions in district curriculum publications.
  3. Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction or pupils with a wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturities.
  4. Develops in each pupil an awareness of his worth as an individual and his role in his family and community.  Encourages pupils to express themselves creatively in art, music and dramatic play.
  5. Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of pupils in communication skills, health habits, physical skills and development of satisfactory self-concepts. 
  6. Enriches educational programs through study trips to community resources such as museums, parks, etc. and through classroom visits by resource persons from the school and community.  Shares and interprets these experiences with pupils and parents.
  7. Plans and coordinates the work of aides, assistants, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips in order to obtain the maximum benefit from their efforts.
  8. Develops activities for parents which promote parent participation and involvement in education activities provided for their children.
  9. Communicates regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, home visits, and individual parent conferences.  Interprets school programs to parents in order to strengthen parental understanding of the individual pupil’s needs and the school’s role in the individual pupil’s life.
  10. Provides appropriate climate to establish and reinforce acceptable pupil behavior, attitudes and social skills.
  11. Cooperates with other professional staff members in accessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  12. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers and exhibits of pupil’s work.
  13. Maintains professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
  14. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.
  15. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess, or be eligible for, a valid Professional Illinois Educational Educator's License with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education

Salary/Benefits

Salary commensurate to the salary schedule and the negotiated contact.
