Duties
The Summer School Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, is responsible for administration of the EC-8 summer school program, including planning and coordination, program implementation, building and staff supervision, and reporting.
The Summer School Coordinator is expected to carry out the duties identified within this document and all other duties that may be assigned in a manner that will meet the standards established by the superintendent and the Board of Education.
Summer School Schedule:
Student Attendance: Monday, July 8 through Thursday, August 1 (no Fridays)
8:30am-11:30am
Staff Attendance: 8:00am-12:00pm
Staff Development Dates: Monday, July 1 and Tuesday July 2
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and Coordination
Collaborate and coordinate with administrative team members to support all activities related to summer school
Create and coordinate orientation materials and activities for summer school staff
Serve as contact resource person for questions regarding summer school program
Establish class lists. (i.e. calendar for registration cut-offs – enrollment deadlines, etc.)
Organize/establish registration schedule
Prepare summer school handbook
Recruit and hire non-district staff
Set final schedules – class and bussing
Collect/organize/disseminate final staffing lists
Develop/oversee budgets with Director of Student Services
Provide curriculum oversight for summer school program and coordinate curriculum development in cooperation with Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Director of Student Services
Coordinate overall summer school registration including preparation of necessary forms etc
Work with the summer school administrative support position to ensure on-line summer school database is complete and accurate
Program Implementation
Maintain ongoing communication with involved administrators
Maintain a general oversight of the summer school budgets
Monitor the processes for staff and student attendance
Support communication between the administrators and staff members
Organize/conduct summer school staff orientation
Building and Staff Supervision
Supervise EC-8 staff and students during summer school
Articulate responsibilities and provide orientation to summer school staff
Oversee summer school staff attendance
Oversee required student reports (for parents and student records)
On-site supervision of staff/students (with support of District Level Administrator on site) – July/August
Supervise summer school administrative assistant
Coordinate teacher check-out at end of each session and collect necessary information for state reporting
Evaluate summer school employees
Reporting
Compile, prepare, disseminate, and maintain required summer school reports as required by state and Federal regulations and Board of Education policies
Complete and prepare summary reports for District Administration/Board of Education
