Duties
The Learning Resource classroom teacher will instruct and case manage students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s). The teacher has responsibilities in four domain areas: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibility and will develop and turn into the principal an annual plan with goals in each of these areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Domain I: Planning and Preparation
- Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy
- Demonstrates knowledge of students
- Sets instructional outcomes based on curriculum and student IEP’s
- Demonstrates knowledge of resources
- Designs coherent instruction
- Designs student assessment
Domain II: The Classroom Environment
- Creates an environment of respect and rapport
- Establishes a culture of learning
- Manages classroom procedures
- Manages student behavior with a school-wide behavioral program
- Support social-emotional growth
- Organizes physical space
Domain III: Instruction
- Develops positive communication with students
- Use quality questioning and discussion techniques
- Assesses student proficiency with formal and informal assessments
- Demonstrates responsiveness to student needs
Domain IV: Professional Responsibilities
- Reflects on lesson effectiveness
- Maintains accurate records
- Develops and updates IEP’s for caseload
- Communicates with families
- Participates in the professional community
- Develops professionally
- Shows high level of integrity with students, fellow staff and building regulations
SPECIFIC JOB-RELATED ABILITIES
- Vocabulary, spelling, reading, writing, grammar and comprehension skills commensurate with education.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn to utilize an array of web-based technology, Google Suite, and basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Functional vision, hearing and speech.
- Able to sit, walk, bend, stoop, floor sit, reach, kneel, push/pull, crawl, balance, reach and use a wide variety of upper body movements frequently.
Salary/Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with experience. The base salary begins at $55,000.
