Duties

Dolton Riverdale School District 148 is seeking to fulfill a Curriculum Coordinator position for the 2024-2025 school year. The Curriculum Coordinator shall be responsible for the coordination, planning, development, implementation, policy development and evaluation of curriculum, to include collaboration with faculty members and faculty committees in the development, writing and implementation of district curriculum.

The Curriculum Coordinator will assist in the purchase and incorporation of texts, resources and technology into classroom instruction. Collaborating with the Superintendent of Schools and Building Administrators to implement school and district objectives is a critical component of the position. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.  The Curriculum Coordinator reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: To support increased student achievement to support the implementation of Common Core Standards.

  1. At the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, works with administration and appropriate committees in the development of the District’s curriculum and instructional programs.

  2. Work in collaboration with appropriate committees for the purpose of coordinating the District’s professional development programs.

  3. Ensure the development, distribution and analyzation of staff development surveys;

  4. Provide assistance to staff and administration in the process of assessing the effectiveness of current curriculum related programming options.

  5. Work with principals and teachers in organizing grade-level and department PLC meetings to ensure horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of instructional programs.

  6. Coordinate textbook and related material purchases.

  7. Work in collaboration with the Superintendent of Schools to develop a proposed yearly budget relevant to the department.

  8. With input from the building administrators, works in collaboration with the Superintendent of Schools to develop proposed staffing plans.

  9. Assist in the recruitment, screening, hiring and assigning of personnel.

  10. Take the lead role in ensuring that the district’s website content reflects key priorities relevant to the department.

  11. Research, recommend, and assist with curriculum technology integration that best meets the District’s curricular objectives.

  12. Work in collaboration with appropriate personnel to oversee on-going new staff orientation, training for substitutes, paraprofessionals and other instructional and educational support personnel.

  13. Work directly with all District Directors for the purpose of ensuring comprehensive approaches to meeting the needs of the students, teachers and administrators.

  14. Maintain records for the Illinois State Board of Education as an approved provider of professional development in the District.

  15. Work in collaboration with the Director of Technology and Innovation for the purpose of analyzing student test results and making curriculum and instructional related recommendations based on student performance.

  16. Analyze current assessment framework and make recommendations in support of a balanced assessment system.

  17. Facilitate the development and/or selection of valid and reliable assessments.

  18. Oversee the preparation of mandated federal and state reports.

  19. Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, parents, students and community members.

  20. Display initiative, organizational and effective decision-making skills.

  21. Maintain awareness of trends, issues and research curriculum, assessment and instruction, and makes recommendations for adjustments in the district’s educational programs.

  22. Attend all regularly scheduled meetings of the Board of Education and committees as assigned.

  23. Actively engage the parent/community by keeping them abreast of curriculum, instruction and assessment related initiatives in the District.

  24. Perform additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate and assigned by the Superintendent of Schools, including recommendation and development of policy related to curriculum matters, staff evaluation regarding performance of curriculum matters and recommending and implementing discipline of staff.

Qualifications

  1. Masters or equivalent advanced degree from accredited college or university preferred;

  2. Have at least five (5) years teaching/administrative experience;

  3. Illinois Principal or Teacher Leader Licensure or Administrative Type 75 preferred;

  4. Understands and is able to perform the role of a leader as an advocate and administrator district-wide curriculum and operations knowledge;
  5. Skill, knowledge, and ability to communicate with a broad constituency, including parents.

  6. Building or district level administration experience highly preferred.
